I loved writing my fiction piece this year! There were many skills I needed to master to accomplish a good piece of writing. When you are writing a fiction story, you should create a character with internal and external traits. An example of an internal trait could be smart or athletic. Also an example for an external trait could also be red hair and blue eyes. Something that makes a better story is to create a way that a character moves throughout the story. This means that the reader should have a clear visual of what is happening in the story while the setting is changing. Settings are a major part of fiction writing. If you want to have a good story you need to a have a clear detailed setting you could say that the sky was as dark as a black crayon.
When you write a fiction piece you should use a story map to plan out your story. Your story map should introduce the character’s hopes, wants, or desires. Also another worthy thing to have in a story is obstacles standing in the way of the character. By creating obstacles for the character, you are leading to the building of the story by adding problem by problem. To create a climax in the story means to have a point in the story when the problem can’t get worse but it soon becomes the turning point. In your story make sure you have good sentence variety by having a sentence being with –ing, or the word to + a verb, or having a simile. A very, very important part of the story is to create a resolution that wraps up the story. If you don’t have a clear resolution you can tell that you have rushed your story and it does not sound good.
I do believe that I have improved as a lot as a writer this year. The reason why is because I have learned so much about conversation and having a good sentence variety. A writing skill that I think I do well is a good balance of conversation and narration and also adding a sentence after the end of conversation. A skill I could improve on is replacing said when a character talks, and also have a better sentence variety. I think that all the skills I learned this year can carry me on in life and still keep making me a better writer.
